A balanced diet for health dental health in general
It is good to have a balanced diet for health dental health in general. Without the right nutrients, teeth and gums are more prone to decay and infection.
Sugar is a major source of dental problems. Canadians consume on average the equivalent of 40 kg of sugar per year. Here are some ways to reduce your sugar consummation:
* Try the sugar-free snacks - see the list below.
* Put less sugar in coffee or tea (or use a substitute).
* Avoid drinks that are added sugar.
* Looking rather juices and beverages without added sugar.
* Read the list of ingredients when you make your market: honey, molasses, liquid sugar, glucose and fructose are all kinds of sugar.
* If you take sweets, avoid sweets that stick to teeth longer - and are more difficult to clean. Eat meals and sweets to not snack. The saliva that then helps to dilute and wash the sugar. Have a toothbrush travel that you use after eating sweets.
* If you cannot brush your teeth at least rinse your mouth with water or eat fiber food, raw vegetables, for example, or chewing sugarless gum.
Excellent snacks safe for teeth:
* Milk and buttermilk
* Fruits, vegetables
* Regular yogurt, cheese or cottage cheese
* Hard cooked eggs or the devil
* Nuts, sunflower seeds or pumpkin
* Melba Toast
* Salads
