Antibiotics Eliminates Bacteria And Reduces The Need For Periodontal Surgery
The dental professional who specializes in gum disease treatments and periodontal surgery is known as periodontist. Oftentimes, the periodontist use antibiotics alone or in combination with other non-surgical treatments to eliminate bacteria. Dental studies show that the intake of antibiotics after undergoing scaling and root planing reduces the need for periodontal surgery. Kids with gum disease, young adults with rapidly progressing advanced gum infections and others with gum disease not responsive to treatment usually need antibiotics to keep the disease under control. There are growing concerns of some experts that there will be backfire when antibiotics are used frequently. When bacteria are exposed to antibiotics, strains can develop that are resistant to the drugs. This can make gum disease treatment complicated.
